A word to the wise

"Ask not the Eldar a question, for they will give you three answers, all of which are true and terrifying to know." - Inquisitor Czevak Turns out, the answers are; "Oh, just a few days", "Our friends will be here shortly" and "We have quite the appetite".

Conclave of the Sun Dragon - Update #2

Remember the concept Phoenix Bomber from early last year? Well a couple of months after that a number of squadrons joined its ranks and i've recently had a WIP update - with a few gems and decals to go.

In case you're wondering, they're going to look a little something like this;

*The Phoenix Bomber sample from early 2014

All up there are 20 aircraft, four of each variety, 16 of which are near completion. Yep, i'm dragging the chain a bit on sorting out the four Void Dragon Bombers. Here's the list;

4x Phoenix Bombers
4x Void Dragon Bombers
4x Nightwing Interceptors
4x Crimson Hunters
4x Hemlock Wraithfighters

*Just a few goodies establishing what dish racks are actually for

And the WIP images, with a nice little appearance from the first of five Wraithknights and 20 Wraithlords.

*Someone queue "Ride of the Valkyries" please...

WIP Roundup - Autarchs to War Machines

Just a quick update on the WIP front folks. So far i've heard back from Matt, Vincent and Steve... with many pretty photos to get the drooling well on its way.

First up, Matt has been working on the air wing (16 of 20 small aircraft), along with a WIP Wraithknight and Wraithlord - given they're next up on the agenda. Each has its own drilled base, coloured as per the theme table scheme to blend in just nicely.

Secondly, we have Vincent's work on the Russian Jetbikes (one Farseer and three Autarchs), all with nebula themes... purty. Me likey.

And finally, Steve has come back with WIP images of the first two Revenant Titans. These puppies are getting a very scorpion/desertesque treatment... the kind of nightmare that bashes up from under the sand to unleash all kinds of hell... shit will get real.

I'll leave it there for now, lets just say i'm a very happy camper for a Monday. Stay tuned for the finished results ;)

Resurgence - The hiatus ends

Well, it certainly has been a while since my last post. Sadly life throws things at you when least expected and we must adapt on the fly. So to all the fans out there, thank you for your patience while i've been relocating, pulling my life back together.

So there have been a few things happening in the background over the last month and now they're here for you to see in all their glory.

First up, the Wraithseer - Paying Giger homage after his recent unfortunate passing, Vincent spent 40 hours making sure this guy oozed a sense of presence on the battlefield.

Secondly, the Vampire Hunter/Raiders - Steve has finished these guys off, scenic bases done, magnetising and just all round bad arse. The lad is currently on holidays (well deserved), however at last note he was building the Revenant Titans (four Forge World types) and prepping the two Phantoms. Expect great things to come with these up and coming war machines.

Third off the rank, Elliot is chipping away at the scenic terrain for the theme table being built.

Fourth, the Flyers are in full swing with Matt, having 16/20 well under construction/prepping.

And finally, Navin from PaintedFigs.com has sent out the sample images of the Swooping Hawks - his new blood certainly is impressive and they've been cleared for mass production... watch the skies indeed.

Air Superiority - Conclave of the Sun Dragon

With Steve's efforts on the Vampire class flyers coming to a close, Mat has begun building smaller aircraft of the Sun Dragon Conclave. Dras'Volharr's full air wing detachment consists of 23 aircraft;

1x Vampire Hunter
2x Vampire Raiders
4x Phoenix Bombers
4x Void Dragon Bombers
4x Nightwing Interceptors
4x Crimson Hunters
4x Hemlock Wraithfighters

First up are the Crimson Hunters and Hemlock Wraithfighters, completing the standard Games Workshop component, with the remainder being of the Forge World variety.

Over the next few weeks, Mat will be prepping and sorting out schemes based on the sample done a couple of months back. A nice mix of flyer bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures have been selected to reflect the terrain profile currently underway by Elliot at CustomTerrain.net

The first sample Wraith units are also off to Mat as of today. With a total of 25 Knights and Lords, the Veil-Walker Consul should start taking shape towards year's end. Just in time for the Titans return...

Eldar Phoenix Bomber

Just had a couple of images drop into my inbox over the last 24 hours, each ramping up the excitement levels as the painting progression unfolds ;)

Matt from Above the Tabletop has been busy getting this one down right and approved before I send off the full batch of flyers (four of each type eventually - 20 total).

Stuff it, i'd normally write more, but really the picture speaks a thousand words.

The underbelly of the fuselage is all that's left, with a blue power generation glow from the wing tips and nose of the fuselage, and bone colouring etc. When these images hit the inbox, i'll append them to this post. EDIT: Underside shot now appended below;

PS: I've also had word from Steve in the US that the Super Heavy Flyers have arrived - stay tuned ;)

A wave of new blood joins the pack...

It has been an interesting couple of weeks, with many thousands of points worth of new miniatures being discovered (they really did multiply in the boxes I had them away in), and new artists joining the team to see this Warhost completed over the next couple of years.

So who are these mysterious and talented folk? Glad you asked...

1. Matt from Above The Tabletop - Now in charge of seeing the Eldar flyers get a good seeing to. With solid airbrush skills and experience dealing with Eldar in general, i've no doubt Matt will nail it.

2. Steve from Third Fate Creations - As noted in a previous post, Steve is in charge of all eight titans, plus Towering Knight Destroyers AND Super Heavy Flyers. There are some very interesting creative ideas being mulled over, with the Flyers being sent out in the next couple of weeks.

3. Shaun Acker - Wraithknights and Wraithlords in abunance are Shaun's gig. Having seen his work with everything from Nurgle to Space Marines and 28 years of painting under his belt, keep an eye out for lumbering death dealing machine goodness.

4. Pierre Loyvet Artworks - A little deviation from the miniature front, Pierre does amazingly detailed illustrations (you may have seen his Blood Angels and Black Templar artwork - plus a kick arse Eva Unit-01). I have got in touch with the promise of sending him my book layout when the wordy stuff is done. Pierre, i've no doubt, will bring my finished miniatures to life in all their glory - tying the book, table and miniatures together in illustration.
