Figured I'd better update this, as I keep meaning to, yet tend to forget due to age and a condition known as CRS (Can't Remember Shit).
For those wondering, yes, the project is still happening. The answer to your second question is a bit more long winded.
"So why did it stop?"
Well, as you may spot, I had a bit of a bad run for a while - just life stuff, we all go through it. Then, I had a commission go really wrong.
When I say wrong, it was horrendous based on my other near dozen commissions which were mostly seamless.
The TL/DR version is, I sent 511 miniatures off to Titan Miniatures in November 2020, of which over $6700 was paid to paint. By Mid 2024, around 55 miniatures had been base coated, with some assembly for 10 of them (Wraithlords). After a significant amount of back and forth which took months, I decided to cancel the commission, requesting return of miniatures and funds for the incomplete part of the commission.
While I eventually received the bulk of the miniatures back (minus $1400 AUD worth of BNIB Harlequins), this ultimately resulted in even further breakdown of response from the commissioned artist.
Eventually, a letter of demand was sent in November 2024, after months of radio silence.
I made it clear I was aware the artist was going through things, but I did need a response to work out a plan going forward for return of the outstanding miniatures and was happy to do a "pay over time" arrangement, for the portion of funds remaining.
The request was strongly in his favour, forfeiting the full amount for miniatures base coated which required assembly and 50% for those base coated that did not, plus return of all the new in box harlequins.
The letter was read (thanks registered mail!) and I had to go through a lengthy process of getting my bank to send me all the bank statements to ensure I had all my legal affairs in order as evidence. It has now been well over a year and I'm in a ready state to re-engage legal to begin the recover process, if a renewed attempt to seek a reply isn't received.
Logistically, its a bit of a pain, as I'm in a different state and his address has changed over the years. I really do hope he does the right thing and responds, as legal teams are just going to cost more in recovered funds after the fact.
Mate, if you're reading this, reach out - the olive branch is still there for now. I don't want to have to involve my solicitor and the courts, but at this point its my only recourse.
So... that is why the blog has been silent. It may take another year before anything moves, but it will in one way or another.
